I am an award-winning author and screenwriter who began writing after retirement from the corporate world as an executive administrative assistant to leaders in profit and non-profit organizations.
I craft stories that resonate with heart and humanity, providing a voice to those who might otherwise go unheard. Through my compelling novels, books, and screenplays, I bring to life the intricate tapestry of human emotions and experiences, highlighting the challenges and triumphs of everyday people. My book titled "When Did You Know and Who Did You Tell?" delves into the lives of twenty-five LGBTQAI+ role models, offering a poignant look at their journeys to authenticity against societal prejudices. My book, "Women, Work and Triumph," presents interviews with twenty-six diverse women from five countries in professions from A - Z, each sharing their unique stories of overcoming obstacles in pursuit of acceptance and respect. My foray into suspense is evident in my thriller "Soaring in Silence," where a handicapped woman, armed only with her own resourcefulness and the wonders of the internet, battles against a dangerous retiree stalker with a hidden criminal past. This novel showcases my ability to weave suspenseful narratives that hopefully keep readers on the edge of their seats. "Concrete Wings," a historical fiction and coming-of-age story, takes readers on a journey from Cuba to Spain to New York City at the height of the sexual revolution. Julian, the main character, a naïve teen is tasked with retrieving smuggled family jewels and settling his parents in America. This novel, inspired by my husband Armando's experiences, has been recognized with multiple awards for the novel and the screenplay.
My other screenplays, such as "Rent Money," a comedy set in 1965 Manhattan, and "While I Wait," a drama based on true events during the AIDS crisis in the 1980s, further illustrate my wide range of work. These works, along with "Misinformed Heart" and "Unprotected Witness," highlight my skill in creating engaging, thought-provoking narratives that hopefully will resonate with audiences.
My dedication to my craft is evident in the numerous accolades my works have received, including Five Star Readers' Favorite awards for each book, the Literary Classics seal of approval for “Concrete Wings” with a recommendation for home and school libraries, and recognition by various film festivals and competitions.
Hopefully, readers appreciate my ability to tell stories that are not just read or watched but felt deeply. My work offers a platform for silent voices to be heard, blending the rough edges of reality with the elegance, charm, and warmth that a sensitive, skilled storyteller can provide. My books and screenplays are not just narratives; they are windows into the souls of my characters, inviting readers and viewers to experience the world through their eyes.
