A chill in the Night can Cause a Fright

I don’t remember how old I was when I had the dream that inspired Witch of the Willows, but it left a lasting impression. What I remember most about the dream was the frightening chill I felt along my body as I looked up to the top window of the house in my dream. I could feel the evil inside we came to challenge or maybe fight—that part of the dream never became clear; however, all the descriptions of the outside of the house and the scene in front are as I remember them to this day. The chilling fright was so bad I awoke to find I had kicked off all the covers and was shivering cold. I quickly pulled the covers close around my neck, waiting for the chill to subside. Was it just a dream?
